How to find us

Blackroot Bistro is situated on the side of a large car park, at Blackroot pool in the famous beauty spot of Sutton Park.  Vehicle access is gained via Hartopp Gate, on Blackroot Road.

You can also get to us on foot or bicycle through any of the park gates.  Detailed below are the most direct and easy roots through the park to Blackroot Bistro entering through Town Gate, Wyndley Gate, Boldmere Gate or Banners Gate.

Town Gate:  (Park Road, Sutton Coldfield) Walk along the road and where it splits, take the right fork; pass the Park House pub on your left-hand side and over the cattle grid.  Continue straight along this road until you get to Blackroot pool, which will be on your left hand side, with the rangers yard on your right.  Just past the rangers yard on the right are some old concrete steps.  Climb these steps and Blackroot Bistro is in front of you.

Wyndley Gate: (Wyndley Lane, Sutton Coldfield) Cross over the ford and *continue up the tarmac path heading gently uphill*.  When you reach the T-junction turn right, very shortly after turn left and **continue along the path until you reach the junction**.  Turn left.  Continue downhill along the path until you reach Keepers Pool which is now directly in front of you.  Turn right and walk along the track with Keepers pool on your left.  At the end of the pool continue uphill through the woods, keeping straight until you reach Blackroot pool, which is directly in front of you.  Turn right and walk alongside the pool.  You will now be in front of the rangers yard.  Turn left, then just on the right, climb the old concrete steps up to Blackroot Bistro, which is now in front of you.

Boldmere Gate: (Stonehouse Road, Sutton Coldfield) From the car park walk up the road and take the first road on the right.  Follow this downhill until you come alongside the ford at Wyndley Gate.  Turn left here and follow the instructions for Wyndley Gate from *continue up the tarmac path heading gently uphill*

Banners Gate: (Chester Road North, Sutton Coldfield) Follow the road past the golf course and continue past the pool and gently uphill until you reach the crossroads.  Go straight on here and head down hill.  Towards the bottom you will see that there is a tarmac path on your left.  Turn left here and follow instructions for Wyndley Gate from **continue along the tarmac path until you reach the junction**.
